How to Vote

Whats your preference?

This years local elections are being run under the same system as State and Federal elections under the optional preferential system. There is only one vacancy in the Coastal ward and a candidate receiving 50% of the vote +1 will be elected without having to consider preferences, if you want to know more about the changes to this years election please view this page.

Elections in the City of Stirling are administered by the Electoral Commission and are conducted by post. All eligible electors will receive a postal voting package around three weeks prior to polling day. The package will include a list of candidates, ballot papers, instructions on how to vote and a declaration. To vote, follow the instructions included in the package. Your postal voting package must be received before 6.00pm on polling day. If you do not think that your postal voting package can be returned by post in time, you can deliver it by hand to a polling official. Please not that enrollment for this election has now closed but if you missed out, why not make sure you are enrolled for the next one.

Why Vote

The turnout in local elections is surprisingly low given the importance that Local Government plays in our every day lives, rightly or wrongly Local Government is no longer 'Roads, Rates and Rubbish', increasingly the decisions made at local government encroach on the amenity and well-being of the residents of the district. You will all have read or be aware of Council decisions affecting ordinary people, your relatives, your neighbours, your friends, if you want to help them and at the same time yourselves plan for the future without worrying about life-changing bolts from the blue , please vote and make your Elected Member and your Local Government accountable.

Who to vote for?

Well, after thinking long and hard about it ;) I think you should vote for me, a truly independent voice with no external influence or masters who genuinely wants to see change for the better within the Coastal Ward and the City of Stirling as a whole, that said, it's more important that you simply vote, even if its not for me.

How can I   help?

First and foremeost vote! , secondly please spread the word, like my facebook page or even volunteer

I like what you say but do not live in the Coastal Ward

If any of your friends and family live in Coastal, Karrinyup, Carine, Gwelup or Balcatta please ask them to consider voting for me, especially once the voting envelopes start arriving at the end of September.

Replacement Ballot Papers

Replacement ballot papers are not yet available for issue . Please note that you are are expected to cast your vote using the election package mailed to you. Replacement election material is intended for those eligible electors who have damaged, destroyed, or not received their ballot paper in the mail. I will update this FAQ when replacement ballot papers are available.

You can request a replacement ballot paper after completing a signed declaration at the venues listed in the table below. Electors are also able to deposit their completed ballot material at one of these locations, although the preference is to use the business reply envelope included with their mailed-out election material which is returned directly to the Western Australian Electoral Commission for processing.
